This section provides an overview of the key non-judicial processes that may contribute to a state’s transitional justice efforts. In particular, it introduces some of the tools that can be used for the documentation of human rights violations, as well as how documentation can be used as a tool for transitional justice. It also discusses truth and reconciliation commissions, specific UN investigative mechanisms, and the lustration process.
