Transitional Justice in Ukraine Training
Prior to the outbreak of the current conflict, PILPG was assisting Ukraine’s Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories in their transitional justice and reintegration efforts. As a continuation of these ongoing efforts, PILPG was asked in July 2021 to devise a transitional justice training for civil society to train them to better assist the government in the transitional justice process.
This training is structured to guide an individual or a team through the various principles and elements of transitional justice, including international crimes, judicial and non-judicial processes, and human rights law.
PILPG hopes this lecture series aids you in understanding the various processes of transitional justice and equips you to better support the efforts of the Ukrainian government in establishing lasting peace.
Please refer to this outline as needed to see an overview of the entirety of the training website.
These modules were developed with the support of the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Office of Transition Initiatives.
Capstone session on Transitional Justice was held on 20 October, 2021, with Professor Jim C. Johnson, Professor David Crane, Ambassador Stephen Rapp, Dean Michael Scharf, and Robert Petit. A recording of the session is available here.
